HISTORY
THE LINK
WITH OUR ROOTS
It is thanks to their grandfather, Don Mariano Escribano de la Torre, a Cavalry General, that Iñigo and his brothers are passionate horsemen since they were children. And it is thanks to their parents, especially their mother, Paloma Escribano, that wine flows through their veins. With Peñafiel Castle as witness, this family story tells to the world a beautiful tale of family tradition, which began in 1986.
IMPROVEMENT
TRADITION, INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY
Paloma Escribano, heir to a long-standing winemaking tradition and one of the first female entrepreneurs in the industry in the Ribera de Duero region, made her reputation on the basis of her wines’ impressive quality, and being a visionary in matters relating to innovation, bio-dynamism, sustainability and respect for natural processes. After several years at the helm of the winery, the time came to hand it over to the next generation.
VIRTUS WINERIES
SINCE 2013
Iñigo López de la Osa Escribano, with his wife Francesca Franco and with the support of the whole family, relaunched the project in 2012, with enthusiasm and with the vision of resuming and enhancing the legacy of his ancestors.

The winery’s expansion and significant technological investment in its facilities represent the resurgence of Virtus, in its bid to position itself as one of the best wines in Spain.
